Team DPE

I saw this on the interwebs and thought I'd share it with you guys. It made me laugh out loud, really. I've been really busy and I start a new job tomorrow, but tomorrow I should get some quality posts up. Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did.

Crazy Art

Some truly epic artwork created by a budding young duo. The music in the background is also awesome during this montage of awesomeness.

I have a pretty big passion for art like this, so I thought I'd share it with you guys. It definitely has a different look to it.

Let me know what you think.

Motorola Atrix

If you haven't already heard about this, now you have. This phone is definitely a whole new level on smart phones in general. Shown at CES 2011, it is not easily forgotten.

Sporting an ultra powerful dual-core, with incredibly robust docking capabilities, a solid version of Android 2.2, and an amazing crisp display, this phone is HIGHLY anticipated in the phone world.

Hats off to Motorola for their design in this one... it is clearly a huge investment on their part.

But this is a phone to keep your eyes on, as it will most likely be the new benchmark in coming years.

Razer Switchblade

Shown at CES 2011... the Razer switchblade is making more than a few ripples in the Netbook market with this tiny powerhouse.

The idea behind this is to be an epic bundle in a small package... just a mini Netbook capable of BIG gaming. Featuring Windows 7 (Love it) and an adaptable keyboard... this thing just might have some legs.

I've used Razer products in the past, and they're not known to skimp. It's clear, even though they claim this just to be a concept, that there is a lot invested and riding on this beast, and Razer is not doing that for naught.

Look for this sometime this year, hopefully.

Let me know what you think.

Off to College

Well guys, I'm deciding it's time for me to settle down and go to school. I put off going to school because I moved to the US to work for several years... but now I want to buckle down and hit the books.

I'm leaning toward a graphic design course, because that's the kind of thing I have a passion for, and I have quite a few friends in the industry.

Just wanted to ask you guys if you have any suggestions for solid other courses to take in addition to that my first year? (Just things worth taking, for the experience/knowledge/etc)

Anyways, wish me luck... will be sending my application in within a week or so.

Cook Like A Man, Man

This is a new segment of my blog I hope to update on a weekly basis.

This is for all you guys out there who want to impress the lady folk with a damn good meal while not looking like a pansy while doing it.

Also, this is a great meal to just make for yourself, because it kicks ass.

So without further adieu, this is my recipe to make;

Rib Eye Steak with a Whiskey Cream Sauce

****I will upload my pic of what the finished product looks like sometime tomorrow (trust me, it's awesome)****

This meal feeds 2. You will be stuffed. This is easy to make, and pretty much anyone can do this if you can follow instructions.

Ingredients:

2 Rib Eye Steaks

2 Diced Onions

5 Tablespoons of Butter

Salt and Pepper

1/4 Cup of Light Cream

1/4 Cup of Whiskey (Your choice, taste matters, alcohol content doesn't)

1/4 Cup of Beef Broth

Some Flour (Just in Case)

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU MEASURE THESE QUANTITIES OUT CORRECTLY, AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, OR THIS WILL FLOP.

Directions:
  • Put 2 Tablespoons of Butter in a frying pan, put the plate onto medium heat.
  • You need to occasionally swish it around in the pan, so the bottom of the pan gets coated with melted butter
  • While the butter is melting, dice up 2 onions (into little bits)
  • Throw 3 Tablespoons of Diced Onion into the pan, once the butter is melted, make sure you're on medium heat.
  • Let the onion get soft and browned, (usually about 4-5 minutes)
  • Turn the burner off. (This is important)
  • Pour in the 1/4 Cup of Whiskey. It is important that the pan is hot enough when you do this.
  • Let the whiskey evaporate for a few minutes, if it's not evaporating, you can put the burner on low-medium heat. If you still have a lot, you can pour some of it out. There should still be a little left in the pan, but not much.
  • Turn the burner back on to medium
  • Throw in 1 Tablespoon of Butter
  • Pour in the 1/4 Cup of Beef Broth after the butter is melted
  • Wait till the mix begins to bubble, then count out 30 seconds.
  • After 30 seconds, slowly pour in the 1/4 Cup of Cream
  • Stir Occasionally (Once every 30 Seconds or so)
  • Let the mix cook for 4-6 minutes on medium heat, then turn the burner to low.
  • Turn another burner onto Medium.
  • Throw 2 Tablespoons of Butter into a different frying pan, then the 2 Ribeye Steaks after the butter is melted.
  • Generously salt and pepper both sides. Cook the steaks on both sides, it's about 4-6 minutes on each side for medium rare, but you're the judge.
  • By the time your steaks are nearing done, your sauce should now have thickened. If your steaks are almost ready, and your sauce is still runny and broth-like, you can do 1 of 2 things (I needed to on my first time) you can A) add a tablespoon of more cream, or B) add a teaspoon of flour. If you add the flour, you have to make sure to THOROUGHLY mix the sauce. You also should put the burner back up to medium heat, as the heat helps thicken the sauce. You may need to do both A and B.
  • Your sauce won't be 'thick' but it shouldn't be like pure liquid either. Either way though, it should taste awesome.
  • Prepare your steaks nicely on 2 plates, with a side of your choice (I recommend potato skins, a recipe I'll post next week probably), and then spoon the sauce on generously (more=better)
  • Prepare to be someone's new favorite person.
  • Profit.

Unique Internet ID for all Americans

Hey, you like being anonymous online? Not anymore. President Obama has given the Commerce Department the authority to implement a 'national cyber security measure' that involves giving every single  American a unique online identity.

The wonderful U.S. Commerce Secratary Gary Locke mentioned that 'the new system would not be akin to a national ID card, or a government controlled system, but that it would enhance security and reduce the need for people to memorize dozens of passwords online'

This basically means the second you log online, they know what you, John Smith, are doing at all times. What websites you visit, what content you're posting/reading... everything. It has been dubbed a measure for the citizen's security, but in reality it just gives the government absolute control to look over your shoulder whenever they damn well please. (Not that they couldn't do that already, but this is mainstream and easy... right out in the open)

I wasn't sure if I had made the right decision moving from the US back to Canada, but after this (and unless I'm just largely mistaken about this whole thing) I am very glad I did.

What do you guys think?

MultiTouch

This is awesome. This was shown at this years CES. It's an 'unlimited touch point' screen. It features full HD resolution, and will be able to be hooked up to a PC for input. This thing sports some pretty impressive technology sporting a 46 inch screen with 12 inches of depth in order to provide sufficient space for the infrared cameras embedded in its back to capture the surface.

Take yours home for the low, low price of $17,000.

P.S. whenever I read 'MultiTouch', I actually read 'Multi Pass' out loud to myself. Am I alone?

Where Would You Want To Live?

Hey Guys.

I'm just curious... but if you had a choice to be born in a different country, where would you choose? I was  born in South Africa, and I've lived in the United States, and now live in Canada. But if I had to choose, I think I'd choose Germany.

I've actually started to learn German and it's a pretty awesome language.

The reason I would choose Germany is I have a great respect for the culture, attitude, and drive for excellence many of the people hold. It could be argued the same qualities are true for North Americans, but I don't think they apply to the general public so much over here. I had some German friends when I was in the States, and just talking to them showed me how much they valued everything they got, because they worked damn hard to get it.

This attitude showed true at the amazing German engineering from more companies than I'd care to list. Plus, the beer is awesome. I live in a German-centric city in Canada, and I have to say that Oktoberfest is my new favorite holiday, far surpassing Christmas and New Years etc.

So, where would you choose to live if you had a 'do-over'?

The End is Nigh?

The end is nigh. In case you didn't already hear, last week on New Years Eve, thousands of blackbirds fell dead for no explainable reason in Arkansas. In addition, there were thousands of other unrelated unexplainable bird deaths in Italy, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Sweeden. In adition, 2 million fish washed up dead for again no explainable reason in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay in the U.S.

With other fish deaths also reported in Brazil, New Zealand and Arkansas -- approximately 100 miles from the bird incident. 40,000 crabs washed up on England beaches in the past few days, as well.

All these events are so far unexplained (or attempted to be covered up with BS reasoning)... what's causing this? Nobody knows.

This is it guys. Buy your guns and ready your bunkers, the end is coming.

What will you guys do in the last year of your life?
