Canada Reverses Metered Internet Bill

Fearing mass citizen revolt, the Canadian government has ordered the most recent bill passed to be revered. The Industry Minister, Tony Clement, has insisted that CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission) undoes the ruling.

The bill approved allowed Bell Canada to charge smaller competitive ISPs by the gigabyte, which basically made it impossible for them to offer flat-rate service. Thus, they were forced to offer standard internet with a 25 GB Cap. Then charge everyone else $10 for a 'premium' service with a higher cap (the exact same service they were receiving prior to the bill.

However, since the chance... Canadian pols have received thousands of complains from consumers, totally 1/3 of a million people... (1% of Canada's population). Fearing political fallout, the government reverted this change.

Thank you government, for reverting the change to screw me.

I'm glad the Canadian government has taken a stance and is pushing for its undoing.

I wish my government would react like this.

That's great to hear. I was really worried for everyone. Artificial internet caps are just stupid.
